Mosaicos

Ballet Folklórico Mosaicos is a nonprofit dance group established in 2014 in Indianapolis, Indiana, with the mission of promoting, preserving, and sharing the rich cultural heritage of Mexico through traditional folkloric dance. Since its founding, the group has worked tirelessly to offer the local community an authentic glimpse into the customs and traditions that make up Mexico’s diverse folklore.
Mosaicos provides an inclusive and welcoming space for people of all ages, backgrounds, and genders to learn and participate in one of the most vibrant expressions of Mexican culture. In addition to performing at local events and festivals, the group hosts classes and workshops that invite the community to engage directly with folkloric dance.
The name “Mosaicos” (Mosaics) reflects the idea that Mexico’s regional dances and traditions, much like the pieces of a mosaic, are diverse and distinct, yet come together to form a colorful, unified cultural portrait. Each dance performed tells a unique story, celebrating everything from regional festivals to ancestral traditions that define Mexican identity.
Over the years, Ballet Folklórico Mosaicos has extended its reach beyond Indianapolis, participating in regional festivals and community events, and collaborating with other organizations to strengthen the presence of Mexican culture in the United States. Their ongoing commitment to cultural education gives young people the chance to connect with their heritage and take pride in their roots.
More than just a dance group, Ballet Folklórico Mosaicos is a space for cultural exchange, learning, and a vibrant celebration of Mexican identity at the heart of Indianapolis.
