2026 Student Essay Contest / Concurso de Ensayos Estudiantiles
Are you a middle or high school student in Clinton County with a story to tell? Express your voice, celebrate community, and win cash prizes in the official Raíces Festival 2026 Essay Contest!
This Year’s Theme:
The Door Opened for Me / La Puerta que se Abrió para Mí Illustrate a moment when someone welcomed you in, made you feel like you belonged, or gave you an opportunity—literally or figuratively.
Contest Rules & Guidelines

Eligibility: Open to any Middle School or High School student residing or attending school in Clinton County.

Format: Essays must be typed, double-spaced, and should not exceed 500 words (or approx. 1–2 pages).

How to Submit: Drop off your physical printed essay or email your submission to Esmeralda Cruz at the Purdue Extension Office (1111 S. Jackson St., Frankfort, IN).

Submission Deadline: All entries must be turned in by 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Prizes & Awards
Prizes are divided and awarded separately for Middle School and High School categories:

Winners will be announced and prizes awarded live on stage at Prairie Creek Park on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026!
